Established in 1961
Mylchreests is a respected Manx motor retail and repair business that has proudly served the Isle of Man since 1961. Our company is driven by passion and dedication, upheld through three generations of family leadership.
Our priority has always been our customers, whom we consider as friends and who have remained loyal to us across generations. We take pride in having represented Jaguar and Land Rover for over 50 years and our valuable partnerships with Subaru and Isuzu. These partnerships have enriched our portfolio and allowed us to better serve our customers.
We are the leading car rental provider on the Island, with our main reception located at Ronaldsway Airport. We are proud to be the island’s representatives for the Avis, Budget, Europcar, and Thrifty car rental brands.
Parts, sales & servicing announcement
After more than six decades serving the Isle of Man, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the doors of our Douglas-based headquarters closed on April 17 – 64 years after it was first opened on Westmoreland Road by Brian Mylchreest.
As a long-established family-run business, this is a decision we have reached with extreme reluctance and one that is tinged with great sadness given the loyalty of staff and customers on the Island over generations.
We are deeply grateful for the support, trust, and friendship we’ve received during that time, and naturally, our current priority is to support our colleagues in the best way we can and ensure our valued customers receive any assistance they may require.
The retail motor industry has changed hugely over the past decade, during which time we have witnessed the closure or streamlining of a number of smaller independent garages and family-run businesses throughout the UK.
This is a trend that we anticipate will continue for some time and one which makes a small, franchised operation such as ours increasingly challenging. As a result, we have taken a realistic long-term view and plan to readapt accordingly.
We would like to sincerely thank the wider Isle of Man community for their friendship over more than 60 years. It has been a genuine privilege to be such a major part of the Island’s motoring heritage for so long and thank you for being part of our story.
Our car rental and airport parking business will continue to operate from its base at the Island’s airport at Ronaldsway.
